Support to make adjustments to your house
Making changes to your home environment can help you to live safety and independently at home. We offer two supports to help you achieve the perfect home environment for your needs.
If you are an NDIS participant and have been approved for the support category ‘home modifications’ in your NDIS plan, you can access the supports below. Please note that GHCA can provide these supports to you if we also provide plan management services.
Assistive products for Personal Care and Safety
Get access to specialized aids and equipment you need to be comfortable and safe, including:
- Pressure mattresses
- Toilet and bathroom equipment
- Specialized clothing
- Continence needs
- Home modification design and construction
Our team of occupational therapists will visit your home to do a comprehensive assessment, provide you with a list of suggested changes, and work with you to have the changes completed.
This can include:
- Adding rails to your bathroom
- Installing ramps
- Adding a slip resistant coating to your tile
- Design changes such as removing rugs that are trip hazards
- Other minor modifications to help you live independently at home
Each support category contains a number of services that you can choose from to help achieve your goals. You can use your budget for any of services within that support category, but you are unable to use this budget for services within another support category. In some cases, you may be approved for a specific support (rather than a category). In this case, you will need to use your budget for this specific service only.
